And there we have it, the end of the 2008 Olympics that was hosted by Bijing, China. To whoever that went over to Bijing to witness this spectacular event, I salute and truly envy ya'll. Nonetheless, even watching via live on Digital Satellite TV gave me some great memories and the preparation of what China-men can do by winning the most gold medals and that has overthrown the Americans (no offense but it's the fact).

The 2008 Summer Olympics closing ceremony was held at the Beijing National Stadium, also known as the Bird's Nest. It was directed by Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou and began at 8:00 pm China Standard Time (UTC+8) on August 24, 2008 (the post-introductory main ceremony began at 8:08 pm). The number 8 is associated with prosperity and confidence in Chinese culture.

The musical acts included:

British singer Leona Lewis and Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page (with football player David Beckham making an appearance)
Hong Kong singers Andy Lau, Jackie Chan, Kelly Chen and Joey Yung
Chinese American singer Wang Lee Hom and South Korean entertainer Rain
Han Hong

The Ceremony also included the handover of the games from Beijing to London. Guo Jinlong, the Mayor of Beijing handed over the Olympic flag to the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, and there was a performance organized by the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (LOCOG).

While the opening ceremony was described as an artistic and serious introduction of China's ancient past, the closing ceremony was described by Western media as "much more lighthearted", "silly" and "fun" than the opening ceremony.

By the end of the 16 days of NBC's coverage of the Beijing Olympics in the United States, it had also become the most-watched U.S. television event of all time, with over 211 million viewers tuned in to the Olympics on NBC according to the Nielsen Media Research; this is 2 million more than the 1996 Atlanta Games, the previous all-time record-holder.

This is to all that missed this year's Olympics grand opening (including myself) and to all that wants a High Defintion of it. There's nothing much I would want to add here but only to enjoy this spectacular event.

The Games of the XXIX Olympiad officially begin in Beijing with the Opening Ceremony at National Stadium, known as the Bird's Nest because of its network of steel girders. The ceremony includes the parade of nations and lighting of the Olympic cauldron.
